The Market on Larkey is our love letter to the neighborhood — a true mom-and-pop gem built on kindness, warmth, and good food. As the founders of Rooted Coffee Company, we learned the joy of growing something that brings people together. After passing Rooted to new owners in 2025, we are continuing our roots here in Walnut Creek, curating a space that feels like the good old days — where kids ride bikes for a popsicle, friends linger over tea, and families gather on the patio with unique treats that everyone loves.

Who We Are

The Market on Larkey is owned and operated by three people who care deeply about this little corner of Walnut Creek. Each of us brings our own flavor to the mix, but we share one purpose: to create a place that feels like home.

Jon and Jenny are husband and wife, and the original founders of Rooted Coffee Company, which they lovingly grew from 2012 to 2025. In 2020, they partnered with Lizzy, who brought her strong business sense and steady hand to balance out their creative energy. 

Around here, you’ll find Jon behind the counter or out front managing catering and events, Jenny dreaming up new menu items and market finds, and Lizzy working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

Together, we’re just three friends who believe in good food, genuine kindness, and the kind of place where everyone feels welcome — whether you’re here for a sandwich, a smile, or just a quiet moment in your day.
